Miami Metrozoo

Spread over 290 acres, Miami Metrozoo offers a truly wonderful family day out and features animals from all over the world. The extremely rare white Bengal tigers, with their white fur and stunning blue eyes, are worth the visit alone. There are only 100 believed to be in existence, so don’t pass up this chance. No less spectacular are the two Komodo dragons which are native to Indonesia. These are the largest and most powerful species of lizard and are fierce predators. They were brought to the zoo in 1996, and have attracted countless visitors ever since. Cute koala bears also prove to be extremely popular.
Imitation rock tunnels, which form cave-live structures, are situated along the 3-mile pathway that connects the different enclosures. Hidden windows in these caves enables spying on such creatures as the gorillas and orangutans. Other weird and wonderful creatures include several Indian muntjac, a clouded leopard and small-clawed Asian river otters. These are housed at Asian River Life. There is also an amphitheatre at which regular presentations on the animals’ takes place. These are well worth attending and are very educational and informative. Nearby, there is a special section called PAWS, which is dedicated to children. There are fast-food joints close by, but tend to have long queues, so bring your own snacks if possible.
